The Glow Story

Hello everyone ! Welcome to the Glow family ! Wick’d & Glow is founded by me, Claudia, because scents have always been a part of my life.

 

When I was little, my mother loved using these fragrance lamps which made our home smell so beautiful and luxurious. 

One of my favourite part time jobs during my tertiary years was working in a fresh handmade cosmetics company, which until now, still influence me in many ways and which I implement into my brand – from supporting local makers, to handmaking products, to sourcing premium quality ingredients, to creating all the beautiful scents in the products. During this time, I also learnt a lot about fragrances and essential oils.

Given this background, I started using candles and essential oils more frequently. But I’ve found that commercially bought candles were so mass produced that there were no quality checks nor love poured into each candle. 

It was only a few years ago that soy wax gained popularity within the Malaysian market. For a while, I gravitated towards them and it felt good that I was supporting local makers. The only problem for me was that most soy candles in the Malaysian market had the same scent. There was no edge or je ne sais quoi. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So I embarked on the journey into candle making, and with the knowledge and experience I already have, I decided to blend my own scents.

 

 

During this process, I discovered coconut wax and its benefits.  Although coconut wax is still an emerging ingredient in the market, and not many people in Malaysia have even heard of coconut wax, but for me, the rest is history.
